Fun! Friendship! Camping! September30th -2nd October 2011

 

Are you between 18 and 35 years and love to have fun outdoors!!!!

 

The Young Leaders are pleased to welcome you to their September activity! This is an activity like no other!!!Our activity this month of September will be camping at the Rowland scout camp from 3oth September -2nd October.  

 It is all about fun and training!

The training will have various components of guiding and life in general. This is an important one since we will not have another training this year. It is also a time to have fun and experience the nature of camping after primary and secondary school.

 The charges are ksh 1000.00 per person and cover all costs for the three days. We will report on Friday evening and leave on Sunday afternoon. If you need a letter for your parents kindly alert us early.

There will be awards for the best patrol so do not let your patrol group down, please mark this dates on your calendars.
What to carry:
  >You will carry your personal effects, the usual.
 > Sisal which is part of the training
 > Dress code is jungle  or casual
 >Carry your girl guide t shirt and scarf.(they will available if you need to buy)

Carry a sleeping bag,if you do not have start searching for one now,but this should not be an excuse for not coming.

     The deadline for paying the charges is on 25th September!!

Kenya attends WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP).

 

 

 Lillian Itenya, a Kenyan Young leader is among the participants who are attending a high-profile WLDP training event in Bujumbura (Burundi) from 4 to 10 September 2011 where participants will learn how to lead others in complex situations, handle change, promote gender equality, develop partnership and advocacy projects.

Journey to Leadership is a joint leadership development project between the WAGGGS Europe and Africa regions, based on the WAGGGS Leadership Development Programme (WLDP).

The Europe-Africa Journey to Leadership seminar was officially launched on 4th September in Bujumbura, Burundi.The Participants, facilitators, guests and representatives from diplomatic corps and international partners of the Burundian Girl Guides were in attendance for the opening ceremony and were treated to the beautiful sound of the Burundian drummers playing traditional songs.  Mme Justine Nkurunziza, The Chief Commissioner of the Burundian Girl Guides, welcomed the 29 participants who had travelled to Burundi from 25 countries.

The Chair of the WAGGGS Europe Region, Lara Tonna, welcomed the participants, providing an overview of the objectives of the seminar and of the project that it seeks to support. She also graciously read the greetings of the Chair of the WAGGGS World Board, Nadine El Achy, who wished the participants and facilitators a fruitful week of learning, exchange and action planning.

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture of the Burundian Republic, Jean Jacques Nyenemigabo, officially opened the seminar, praising the continuous efforts of the Girl Guides Association of Burundi as well as welcoming all the participants on behalf of the Burundian Government.

Over the next 5 days the seminar will provide participants with opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills, learn more about gender equality issues in their respective countries, discuss the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and their practical application and achievement in their local communities, as well as visits to local projects and much more!

The seminar continues until Sunday 10 September.
